Bridal nails: a timeline from consultation to haldi

By the team at The Nail Story, Bawadiya Kalan, Bhopal · Updated

Your nails are in nearly every photo of the wedding: the ring shot, the mehndi close-up, the moment your hands are held. They deserve a plan. Here is the timeline we suggest to brides, from the first conversation to the morning of haldi.

A few weeks before: the consultation

Start with a conversation, not a booking for the set itself. Bring:

  • pictures of your outfits for each function, or fabric swatches
  • your jewellery, or photos of it, especially rings and bangles
  • every nail picture you have saved, even the ones that contradict each other

Your artist will help you narrow it down. Many brides choose one set that works across functions, a soft base with an accent nail or two that picks up the jewellery. Others want something bolder for the sangeet. Both are fine. The consultation is where you decide.

This is also when you choose your base. For a wedding, most brides want length and strength, so gel extensions (₹2,500) or acrylic (₹2,800) are the usual choices. If your own nails are long enough, a gel overlay (₹1,500) adds strength without length.

The design: building it from the menu

There is no fixed bridal package at The Nail Story. Your set is priced from the regular menu, so you only pay for what you choose:

Add-on Price
Chrome ₹80 per finger
Cat-eye ₹100 per nail
Ombré ₹100 per nail
Nail art ₹50 onwards
3D art ₹150 onwards

A magnetic cat-eye catches the light beautifully in photos. Chrome on the tips looks clean with gold jewellery. Hand-painted florals or a few 3D pearls make a lovely accent on the ring finger. One of our Google reviewers came in with a hard-to-explain cat-eye and glitter idea for her wedding and wrote that it was done exactly right.

One to two days before your first function: the set

This is the sweet spot. Done too early, the set has grown out a little by the last function. Done the same morning, you are rushing on a day that is already full.

Plan for a relaxed appointment and come with clean, bare nails. If you have an old set on, tell us when you book so we can include an extension removal (₹600).

Mehndi and haldi: protecting the set

Mehndi and haldi are hard on nails. A few habits help:

  • Ask your mehndi artist to keep the paste off the nail surface where possible.
  • Rinse turmeric off your nails quickly after haldi, then pat them dry.
  • Wear gloves for anything messy in between functions.

One reviewer told us her set had no chips and every stone still on a month later, even after haldi. If something does chip during the wedding week, message us and book a fix. We repair it free of charge.

After the wedding

When the celebrations are over, come back for a refill to keep the look (gel refilling is ₹1,700), or a removal so your natural nails can rest. Please don’t peel extensions off, however tempting it is in the airport queue.

Quick answers

When should I get my bridal nails done?

Usually one to two days before your first function, so the set is fresh for every event and has time to settle.

Is there a bridal package price?

No. A bridal set is priced from the regular menu, such as gel extensions at ₹2,500 or acrylic at ₹2,800, plus art per nail. Your artist confirms the full price before starting.

What if a nail chips during the wedding week?

Message the studio and book a fix. We repair chips free of charge.
